SRINAGAR: Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather on Thursday informed the Legislative Council that in terms of the policy enshrined in SRO-64 of 1994 dated 24th March, 1994 Government has already regularised 56,214 DRWs/work charge employees up to 31st July, 2014.
Replying to a clubbed question by Bashir Ahmad Magray, Syed Asgar Ali and Dr. Basher Ahmad Shah Veeri, the Finance Minister said that as regards Daily Rated Workers (DRWs), in terms of policy of the government enshrined in SRO No.64 of 1994 date 24th March, 1994, all DRWs/WCEs who have completed seven years continuous service up to 31th March, 1994 have to be regularised from 1st April, 1994. The said policy of regularisation is applicable to all the DRW/Work Charge Employees (WCEs) as existed in the government Department/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies on 31st January, 1994.
The minister further informed that a Cabinet Sub Committee has been constituted vide G.O No. 345/GAD of 2009 dated 27th September, 2009 to go into the extent/magnitude of the problem relating to casual workers i.e. financial, legal and administrative that may arise in the regularisation of such temporary workers and to work out an appropriate policy in this regard.
