SRINAGAR: The much hyped None of the Above Option (NOTA) was used by around 50,000 voters in Jammu and Kashmir during the just concluded elections to the Legislative Assembly.
According to a Srinagar based news agency, across the 87 assembly segments of Jammu and Kashmir, NOTA has been pressed by around 50 thousand registered voters of the state during the recent five phased polls for state legislative assembly in JK.
Details informed that in Amira Kadal 208 have pressed NOTA, while as this option has been used by 308 voters in South Kashmir’s Anantnag. In Akhnoor, the option has been pressed by 436 voters. In Bandipora, NOTA was pressed by 1641 voters. 302 have pressed this option in Bani while as in Banihal the option has been used by 2405 voters. In North Kashmir’s Baramulla area, NOTA has been pressed by 758 voters.
In Bosoli, the number is 462 and in Srinagar’s Batamalo area, it was used by 86 voters this time.
In Beerwah, 710 voters have pressed this unique button while as in Bhaderwah, NOTA was used by 339 voters. In Bejbehara, this option wherein the people can reject all the contesting candidates was used by 575 voters.
In Bilawar, it was used by 414 voters and in Bishna by 490.
In Central Kashmir’s Budgam area, the option was used by 360 people and in Chadoora by 339 voters. In Chenani, it was used by 1185 voters and in Chamb by 223.
In Chrar-e-Sharief it was used by 363 voters while as in Derhal, it was used by 475 voters. In Devsar, the option was used by 822 people while as in Doda, the NOTA was pressed by 735 voters.
In Dooru, the option was used by 997 people and in Eidgah by 66. In Ganderbal, NOTA was found as an interesting option by 800 people while as in Gandhi Nagar, it was used by 523. In Gool Arnas, it was used by 627 and in Gol Gulab Garh, the option was used by 539 people. In Gulmarg, it was used by 917 people while as in Gurez by 66. Pertinently, during the five phased 2014 state elections on 87 assembly segments 47 lakh , 27 thousand and 245 people have voted for 821 candidates in Jammu and Kashmir.
