5 bootleggers arrested, haul of liquor seized

SAMBA: District Police Samba launched drive against menace of illicit liquor and its sale and the same liquor from different areas of the district.
Reports said that police team of Police Station Bari-Brahmna and officials of District Special Branch, Samba raided a shop at Dassal, Bari Brahmna and recovered 45 nips (Frooties) from the possession of one Roldu Ram son of Durga Dass resident of Smailpur who was indulging in selling of illicit liquor in his shop. A case vide FIR No. 55/2016 under section 48(A) Excise Act was registered at Police Station Bari-Brahmna .
In the meanwhile , a police team of Police Station Ghagwal and officials of District Special Branch, Samba during Naka checking at Rajpura and Sanoora intercepted a Scooty bearing registration number JK21B/2732 driven by one Mahinder Pal son of Tirath Ram resident of Randwal and during checking found it was carrying 44 nips and three quarters of whisky whereas 43 nips (Frooties) were also recovered from another person namely Bhola son of ShyamLal resident of Chhattisgarh at present Kattal Brahmna who was carrying the same on his bicycle. The cases vide FIR 43/2016 and 44/2016 under section 48 (A) Excise Act were registered against them at Police Station Ghagwal. In similar incident police team of Police Station Vijaypur and officials of District Special Branch, Samba during Naka checking at Swankha Morh intercepted one Maruti Car bearing Registration No. JK02Q/7864 driven by one Sohan Lal son of Hans Raj resident of Chumbia Ramgarh and recovered 56 nips (Frooties) from his vehicle. A case vide FIR No. 56/2016 under section 48(A) Excise Act was registered at Police Station Vijaypur.
Moreover, a police team of Police Station Ramgarh and officials of District Special Branch, arrested one Ajit Singh son of Chajju Ram resident of Kalah Swankha Ramgarh who was indulging in selling Frooties outside his shop at Kalah Swankha on exorbitant rates and during search police recovered 25 nips (Frooties) from his possession. A case vide FIR No. 15/2016 under section 48 (A) Excise Act was registered at Police Station Ramgarh.
