38 bovines rescued, three smugglers held

MAHORE/ LAKHANPUR: Police on Monday foiled three bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 38 bovines and arresting three smugglers in three different Nakas at Mahore and Lakhanpur.
According to a report, a police team headed by ASI Nazir Ahmed, Incharge Police Post Dewal laid a Naka at Dewal and rescued seven bovines from the possession of Bashir Ahmed son of Ghulam Mohd resident of village Neoch Tehsil Mahore. The accused person was carrying these bovines without any legal documents and intended to smuggle the same towards Kashmir. The accused was arrested and case vide FIR No.52/2017 under section 188 RPC was registered at Police Station Mahore.
Meanwhile, a team headed by ASI Nazir Ahmed, Incharge Police Post Dewal laid a Naka at Dewal and rescued 21 bovines from the possession of Wazir Mohd son of Mohd Hussain resident of village Gota Tehsil Chassana and Mohd Rafiq son of Ahmed Amin resident of Dewal Tehsil Mahore. Both the accused persons were arrested and case vide FIR No.54/2017 under section 188 RPC was registered against them at Police Station Mahore. According to police officials, a police team of Police Station Lakhanpur led by SHO Inspector Kulbir Singh Choudhary laid a surprise Naka at NHW Jagatpur. During this, police team intercepted one truck (JK02AD-5569) playing towards Jammu. However, the smugglers leaving the vehicle aside managed to flee from the spot. During search of vehicle, police recovered 10 bovines which were rescued. Lakhanpur Police registered a case vide FIR No. 64/2017 under section 188 RPC,3/5PC Act and manhunt has been launched to nab the bovine smugglers.
