37th District Udhampur Volleyball Championship begins with enthusiasm

UDHAMPUR: The Volleyball Association of District Udhampur today inaugurated the 37th District Volleyball Championship for both boys and girls, organized under the aegis of the Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir and sponsorship of J&K Sports Council.

The opening ceremony witnessed an encouraging start with Jugal Kishore Anand, Additional District Development Commissioner Udhampur, as the Chief Guest, while Neeraj Bhargav, District Information Officer Udhampur, graced the event as the Guest of Honour.
The tournament was formally declared open by the Chief Guest in the presence of a large gathering.
The championship began with exciting matches in the boys’ section. The first match between Army Public School and Delhi Public School (DPS) Udhampur was a thrilling contest, where DPS emerged victorious with a 2-0 win, scoring 25-18 and 25-15. In the second match, GDC Udhampur defeated Roun Domail Volleyball Club with a 2-1 scoreline of 13-25, 25-16, and 15-7. The third match saw City Volleyball Club outplay Tikri Volleyball Club 2-0, with scores of 25-14 and 25-21. In the fourth match, Ramnagar Volleyball Club clinched a 2-0 victory over Raja Volleyball Club, scoring 25-15 and 25-18. AOC Club won the fifth match against Barta Volleyball Club 2-0, registering 25-19 and 25-17. The sixth match was claimed by Udhampur Volleyball Club, who defeated Chiryai Volleyball Club 2-0 with scores of 25-18 and 25-19.
In the girls’ section, the first semi-final witnessed Ramnagar Volleyball Club securing a convincing 2-0 victory over GCW, scoring 25-15 and 25-13. The second semi-final was closely fought between Army Public School (APS) and Udhampur Volleyball Club, with APS winning 2-0 in a tight battle, scoring 25-23, 25-23.
The championship drew wide participation from senior citizens, veteran volleyball players, Beopar Mandal members, and the Chamber of Commerce.
Dignitaries present included Ashok Padha (President VADU), Amit Chander Singh (Secretary VADU), Pardeep Chopra, Bhushan Sethi, Ashok Kumar, Junior Ashok Kumar, Kuldeep Sharma (Joint Secretary), Pawan Kumar (Sr. Vice President), and Ajit Singh, among other volleyball enthusiasts.
The matches were officiated by Naveen Sharma, Manik Nargotra, Kuldeep Sharma, Rakesh Sharma, Deepak Sharma, Meenu, Neetika, and Vinod Sharma.
The stage proceedings were conducted by Amit Sharma, Senior National Player and Physical Education Teacher, adding professional flair to the event’s commencement.
