34 bovines rescued, 4 smugglers held

RAMBAN: Continuing to its drive against bovine smuggling, District Police Ramban on Saturday foiled a major bid of bovine smuggling at Batote.
According to a report, on specific information, a party led by SHO Batote Inspr Mohd Iqbal, under the supervision of Dy. SP Hqrs Mohd Rafiq and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar, laid a special Naka at Baggu Nallah Batote in wee hours. Two trucks bearing registration No. JK02AJ- 4071 and JK02T – 7660 were signaled to stop, on which the drivers of the vehicles tried to escape by accelerating their vehicles but police chased them at a distance and stopped them.
During checking, 32 bovines in total were found loaded in these two trucks in a cruel manner. Four persons namely Shabir Ahmed alias Guddu son of Mohd Yousuf, Gulam Abass son of Badhullah, Sher Ali son of Mian Rashid and Mohd Shafi son of Mohd Yaqub all residents of Reasi were arrested and a case under relevant sections was registered against them at Police Station Batote.
