Jammu: Police on Friday seized a record haul of 33 kgs Heroin worth more than Rs 33 crores from Bus Stand area of Jammu.
Briefing media, ADGP Jammu Zone Anand Jain said, Police Station Bus Stand, Jammu received reliable information that one person named Harmeet Singh (name changed), resident of Punjab was coming from Akhnoor towards Bus Stand with a huge consignment of Heroin like substance. Accordingly a special Naka was laid by police party of Police Station Bus Stand and said suspect was apprehended tactfully with a bag carrying 26 packets weighing approximately 33 kgs of Heroin like substance.
In this regard FIR No. 41/2024 under sections 8,21,22 NDPS Act registered in Police Station Bus Stand and investigation started. Prima facie it appears that accused obtained the consignment from Border areas and was taking it to Punjab. However, further investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages and the complete picture.
