SRINAGAR: With the participation of 32 teams (20 boys and 12 girls), Ninth State level Baseball Championship inaugurated by Principal, Islamia College of Science and Commerce (ICSC), Prof Mohammad Aslam Baba in the college campus, here on Sunday.
Championship is being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Baseball Association under the auspices of Amateur Baseball Federation of India and sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council.
Teams including higher educational institutions like Kashmir University are also participating in the championship which will conclude on 13th November.
Addressing on the inaugural ceremony, Prof. Baba described the need of physical education for the proper physical and mental development of a human body. He urged and stressed on the participants to perform to the best of their potential and lay a solid foundation for their bright future.
Prof. Nisar Ahmad Rather, HoD Mathematics and Chairman Kashmir University Sports Board, Director Physical Education Department ICSC Altaf-ur-Rehman, Secretary District Baseball Association Ganderbal , Rouf Ahmad Sofi faculty members of ICSC and renowned sports personalities were also present on the occasion.
General Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Baseball Association, Fida Hussain Fidvi urged to work hard to make this game familiar to each and every sportsman of the State.
Fidvi said, that his association is keen to see youth of J&K showing their skills to make a remarkable future in baseball on national and international level.
He assured a fair selection of players for upcoming national championship during these ongoing State level matches being played in ICSC ground under the close supervision of Mushtaq Ahmad, Sports Officer Kashmir J and K State Sports Council, Fidvi added. With pic
