3 of family feared drowned as car plunges into Chenab at Doda

Doda: Three members of a family were feared drowned after their car skidded off the road and fell into the Chenab river in Doda district on Tuesday, police said.
According to police, an Alto car (JK06A-6311) skidded off the road at about 5:30 AM in Gadsu area near Pul Doda opposite Stone Crusher Ghat, on Batote-Doda-Kishtwar NHW244.
SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom while confirming the incident said that the 3 persons of a family including Manjeet Singh of Bhadarwah his wife and daughter were traveling in the vehicle which met with an accident near Pul Doda. The Police, Army, SDRF, Chenab Rescuers and local volunteers reached the spot and rescue operation is going to trace out them.
SSP said that the vehicle has been traced and retrieve it out from the river Chenab with the help of two cranes.
The deceased have been identified as Manjeet Singh, son of Pritam Singh, resident of Shengoi, Bhadarwah, his wife Soniya Singh and daughter Sukhwinder.
Meanwhile DDC Vice-Chairperson Sangeeta Bhagat expressed deep grief and sorrow over the accident near Doda, in which 3 persons of a family feared drowned.
“Shocked over the loss of 3 precious lives in a tragic road accident at Gatsoo area near Doda.. May departed souls Rest in peace. Prayed for strength to the bereaved family… My heartfelt Condolences to the bereaved family,” Sangeeta wrote on Twitter.
