3 drug peddlers arrested

SRINAGAR: Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 13 Kilograms of poppy straw from their possession. While a drug peddler was arrested in Janglatmandi area of Anantnag and 220 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession.
On a tip off, Police laid a Naka at Babpora Awaneera crossing headed by SHO Police Station Zainapora. During Naka checking two persons Ghulam Ahmad Sofi son of Wali Mohammad Sofi, resident of Gund Chahla Bijbehara and Hilal Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, resident of Trenz Shopian who were riding a motorcycle were intercepted. On checking 13 Kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from their possession.
A case FIR number 19/16 under section 15 NDPS was registered in Police Station Zainapora against them and investigation was taken up.
Meanwhile, acting on specific information, Anantnag police headed by DYSP Headquarters, SHO Police Station Anantnag and DO Janglatmandi laid a naka at Janglaatmandi Chowk. During the Naka checking one person who was later identified as Mohammad Ramzan, resident of Deva Colony Anantnag was intercepted. On his search 220 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession.
A case FIR number 98/2016 under Section 08/20 NDPS was registered against him in Police Station Anantnag and investigation was taken up. Police has assured of intensive steps to b taken to eradicate the menace from the general area of Anantnag.
