25th Sub Junior National Fencing Championship concludes with impressive performances by J&K

JAMMU: The 25th Sub. Junior National Fencing Championship, held from March 25th to 28th in Rajamundry, witnessed a display of remarkable talent and skill from young fencers across the country. Among the standout performers was Antalya Jamwal, who clinched a silver medal in the girls’ Sabre Individual event, showcasing her prowess and determination on the fencing strip.
Antalya’s impressive performance was a testament to her dedication and hard work in mastering the intricate art of fencing. Her silver medal win in the Sabre Individual category added to the excitement and competitive spirit of the championship.
In addition to Antalya’s achievement, the Jammu and Kashmir contingent also secured medals in team events. The boys’ Sabre Team Event saw a bronze medal victory, with the team consisting of Dev Karan, Harnidh Singh, Vansh Raina, and Vinayak Sharma showcasing their collective strength and strategic prowess.
Similarly, the girls’ Sabre Team Event witnessed another bronze medal triumph for the J&K team. Antalya Jamwal, along with teammates Sabrena Choudhary, Eknoor Kour, and Shrija Bali, displayed exceptional teamwork and skill to secure a podium finish in the team event.
Rashid Ahmed, the Convener of the Adhoc Committee for Fencing in Jammu and Kashmir, expressed pride in the performance of the state’s fencers at the national championship. “Antalya’s silver medal and the team’s bronze medals highlight the talent and potential of our young fencers,” said Ahmed. “We are committed to further nurturing and supporting their journey in the sport.”
The Adhoc Committee for Fencing in J&K, led by Rashid Ahmed and supported by members like Maninder Pal Singh and Advocate Supriya Chouhan, continues to work towards promoting and developing fencing talent in the region. The success at the Sub. Junior National Fencing Championship serves as a motivating factor for aspiring fencers and underscores the growing presence of Jammu and Kashmir in the national fencing arena.
