259 new COVID cases reported in J&K

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir registered 259 fresh COVID cases on Wednesday, taking the infection tally in the union territory to 4,76,703 while no fresh death due to the Coronavirus was reported, officials said here.
Twenty one cases were reported from Jammu division and 238 cases were reported from Kashmir valley, the officials said here.
The death toll due to the virus was 4779 as no fresh death was reported from the union territory, the officials said.
There are 2,169 active cases of the disease in the union territory, while the number of recoveries has reached 4,69,755, the officials said.
The officials said there were 51 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus).
Meanwhile, Ladakh has reported three new cases of coronavirus, taking the infection tally to 29,161, officials said.
Fifteen patients were discharged from hospitals after getting cured and the total recoveries stand at 28,873, they said.
The new cases were reported from Leh.
So far, 229 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in Ladakh. Of these, 169 deaths were reported from Leh and 60 from Kargil, officials said.
The number of active COVID-19 cases has gone down to 59 in Ladakh — 52 in Leh and 7 in Kargil.
