24th State Football Championship Kashmir chapter starts, Jammu yet to draw fixture

JAMMU: Divided into two parts, Kashmir leg of the 24th State Football Championship, organised by the J and K Football Association, got underway at Synthetic Turf field, Srinagar on Sunday. However, on the other hand, those responsible for the Jammu part of the State championship are yet to finalise the fixture for the teams shortlisted for the competition. In Srinagar, the Association has involved Kashmir based District Football Association (DFFAs) and other Super Division Clubs of J&K Bank, Food and Supplies, AG’s Office, J and K SRTC and Lone star KFC.
Whereas, at Jammu chapter, only departmental and professional team taking part is Jammu and Kashmir Police. Other participants include those five DFAs and as many prominent local clubs.
Meanwhile, the actual competition at Srinagar got underway today with opening day witnessing two matches.
As per the reports reaching here, in the first match, DFA Bandipora defeated DFA Kulgam by four goals to three. Azhar Ali helped the side netting three goals while fourth goal came through Rameez. Similarly, from Kulgam, Tawseef made hat trick. In other match of the day, DFA Pulwama outplayed DFA Badgam by two goals to nil. All the three goals came in the second half of the play. Aneek Ahmad and Aqib Ahmad were the scorers. On the other hand, Badgam missed a sure goal chance in the shape of a penalty in the last minutes of the game.
FIXTURE: JKSRTC XI shall take on DFA Kupwara at 2:00 PM; Pattan XI shall lock horns against DFA Anantnag at 3:30 PM.
