DODA: In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation of liqour in the area, sleuths of Excise Department Doda Range destroyed 60 litre of Lahan and illicit liquor in Trown area of district Doda.
On the direction of Excise Commissioner Mohd Javed Khan and under the supervision of Dy Excise Commissioner Executive Syed Muried Hussain Shah an excise team conducted a series of excise raids in villages Shangroo, Bounjai and Trown areas of Tehsil Bhalla.
During raids two persons namely Yog Raj son of Bishan Dass, Kalyana Devi wife of Budhi Ram residents of Sandhai Shangroo were booked under Section 48 of Excise Act.
In the process eight bottles of illicit liqour were recovered from both the accused. Besides 60 kg of Lahan recovered from State land was destroyed on the spot.
RAJOURI: Three persons were booked by Excise sleuths of Rajouri – Poonch Range for illegal distillations. During raids by Excise Inspector Varun Chandan at different places in Rajouri, the sleuths recovered 170 Kg of Lahan, 18 bottles of illicit liquor from State land.
The sleuths booked Anil Kumar son of Joginder Singh resident of Siote, Rajanti wife of Bali Ram resident of Dabbar and Janak Singh son of Harbans Singh resident of Narian.
