ISLAMABAD: At least 20 militants were killed and several others injured early on Sunday when Pakistan’s fighter jets pounded their positions in the country’s tribal region.
The strikes were launched after inputs about the presence of militants in Sipah, Malakdin Khel and Nalan Sur Kas areas of Bara tehsil of Khyber, one of seven tribal district.
A security official said that 20 militants were killed and their five hideouts destroyed.
The information could not be independently verified as the targeted areas are remote and out of reach of free media.
Pakistan earlier this month launched Khyber-1 operation in Bara which is still going on. The security forces are fighting Taliban in different tribal areas on the volatile Afghan border.
They launched operation in North Waziristan in mid-June which is still going on. (PTI)
