JAMMU:In a random checking of vehicles on National Highway, police on Thursday seized two quintals of Bhukki (crude form of opium) from a truck, arrested the driver and launched a manhunt to nab his associates.
A 10-tyre truck (JK08B-1980) on its way from Srinagar to Jammu was intercepted at a naka and during checking, the police found two quintals of Bhukki concealed under consignment of various commodities.
The arrested driver has been identified as Ashok Kumar, son of Gharu Ram, resident of Rakh Badali, Udhampur.
FIR (2/15) under NDPS Act has been registered at Nagrota Police Station. “Efforts are being made to nab the supplier and the buyer of the contraband,” police said, adding, “The total seizure is weighing 2 quintal, 25 kilogram, 400 gms
