LEH: Two persons, including one young boy and 60 year old woman were killed and several others injured in a tragic road accident which took place on Leh-Srinagar National Highway at Nimmey-Ralpa.
According to report, a bus bearing registration No JK 10 2497 coming from Leh to Domkhar village when turned turtle near Nimmey Ralpa due to negligence of driver and overloading. Four passengers were reported serious including one critical.
A case FIR No 61/17 under Section 279, 337, 304 A RPC was registered at Police Station Leh.
The rescued passengers alleged that the bus was overloaded with passengers and goods on the roof of the bus.
As soon as injured patients were brought to SNM Hospital and admitted in the casualty ward, the Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo along with EC Agriculture Tsering Wangdus rushed to the hospital and met the injured and took a detailed report about their treatment from Superintendent SNM Hospital Leh and directed doctors to provide best available medical care to the injured patients and personally monitored the rescue operation.
Expressing deep condolences and grief over the loss of lives, CEC Dr Dawa said that it is the failure on part of the government, police, bus union and driver who allowed this bus to ply with overloaded passengers.
To avoid such untoward accidents in future, CEC Dr. Dawa directed police to keep a strict vigil in implementing road safety measures and traffic regulations to avoid such horrifying incidents in future and appealed to the commuters to avoid travelling in overloaded vehicles.
The Deputy Commissioner, Leh Prasanna Ramaswamy G, SSP Leh, Uday Bhaskar Billa, ADC Leh Moses Kunzang, Councilor Skurbuchan and Lamayuru also rushed to the hospital and inquired about the medial facilities being provided to the injured passengers.
Meanwhile, Member Parliament Ladakh Thupstan Chhewang, in a message, expressed deep condolence on the unprecedented death of passengers in the accident.
