19,900 Kgs polythene seized at Toll Post Lakhanpur

JAMMU: Continuing with their efforts to check the entry of banned items into the State and acting under the guidance of T Angchok, Excise Commissioner, J and K, the sleuths of Excise Department foiled a major bid to smuggle polythene while seizing 19,900 kgs of polythene from a truck at Toll Post Lakhanpur.
A truck bearing registration No.PB06L-8485 reported at the toll post for clearance on 28th August 2016. As per the documents, the vehicle was carrying de-oiled rice bran loaded through New Kashmir Road Lines, Shop No.9, Transport Nagar, Jalandhar City vide GR No.432 dated 26th August 2016 and consigned by M/s J.R Agro Tech Pvt Ltd. Dodwan Road, Dinanagar to M/s Supreme Feed Mills, Ranjit Pura, Gomanhansan Road, Jammu. However, on physical checking, it was found loaded with 19,900 kgs of polythene. The evaders tried to import banned polythene by importing the same in the garb of de-oiled rice bran. The vehicle alongwith seized polythene is being handed over to the Pollution Control Board, for further action under relevant rules.
The whole operation was conducted by the Excise and Taxation Officers Virinder Singh Billowria, Shamsu Duha and Vikas Anand, Excise Inspectors Adarsh Sharma, Gulrez Malik, Vikas Nanda and Anil Kumar, Sub-Inspectors Ikhlaq Ahmad, Darvinder Kumar and Brij Pal Singh and Excise Guards Davinder Singh and Ghulam Haider.
Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur appreciated the efforts of the staff of the Toll Post Lakhanpur in foiling the attempt to smuggle banned item and enjoined them to work with more zeal and dedication to thwart the nefarious designs of smugglers.
