JAMMU: A 19-year-old boy, suspected to be a vehicle lifter, was found dead in Rajiv Nagar locality near Jammu University.
The deceased, Sunil Sharma, son of Thoru Ram, resident of Sungal, Akhnoor, was presently residing near JU campus.
Sunil’s father had last week handed over a stolen motor cycle to Akhnoor Police, said SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Bishnesh Kumar, adding, later he was asked to produce his son.
“Sunil’s body, lying near a tube well, was shifted to GMC Hospital for post-mortem”, the SHO said adding that the doctors described it a case of death by poison. However, medical report is still awaited.
“We are investigating Sunil’s death as well as his involvement in motorcycle theft cases,” he said, adding, “his name had surfaced in two such cases.” An inquest proceeding under section 174 CrPC has been initiated.
