LEH: Fire and Fury Corps on Wednesday held a rally for veterans and Ex-servicemen of Durbuk and Tangtse Blocks here at Durbuk. The rally was inaugurated by General Officer Commanding Fire and Fury Corps and witnessed a strength of over 1,400 veterans from the far flung areas of these two blocks.
The event embarked with a heartwarming performance by Funchuk Ladakhi who struck a chord with the locals when he sung the Ladakhi Regimental song. To add to the merriment of the day, the visitors were mesmerised by two group dance performances by the local Government Middle School, Tharuk and the KGBV School, Tangtse. The Sarpanch of Durbuk and Tangtse Block reiterated the value of the inseparable bond between the Army and the residents of Eastern Ladakh since independence. He also thanked the Army for all the meaningful assistance provided over the years.
The Corps Commander later felicitated the Veer Naris, veterans and the Sarpanchs. He also presented the locals with Ice Hockey kits, Electric cable for Solar Power Plant, Computers, Photocopiers, School furniture, Water pump, wheel chairs and walkers for specially abled persons and also dedicated numerous ‘Sadbhavana’ projects in order to improve their quality of life. The locals thereafter took advantage of the various educative, motivating and recruitment related stalls established at the venue. The medical camp received the maximum patronage wherein over 300 locals sought treatment and medical advice.
