18 bovines rescued, smuggler nabbed

REASI/SAMBA: Police on Wednesday foiled two bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 18 bovines and arrested a smuggler.
As per the details, a specific information was received at Police Station Chassana that some persons were on way along with bovines towards Kashmir via Nambal Bher without any legal permission. On this, a police team from Police Station Chassana led by SI Ranjeet Singh, SHO Police Station Chassana laid a Naka at Nambal Bher and rescued 11 bovines from the possession of the accused person. The accused person was arrested and identified as Abdul Aziz son of Saif Din resident of Naily Ghota Tehsil Chassana District Reasi. A case vide FIR No.49/2016 under section 188 RPC was registered at Police Station Chassana.
Meanwhile, in other case, during the night intervening 8th -9th November 2016, a Naka was laid by police party of Police Station Ghagwal headed by SI Rajeshwar Singh at Jatwal Chowk on NHW-1A to check the illegal activities of bovine smugglers.
During checking, a Canter-608 (JK08B-9588) which was coming from Samba side was signaled to stop but driver accelerated the vehicle, ran away towards Ghagwal. The police party acting swiftly chased the said vehicle and intercepted the same on Sangwali Link Road.
The driver of vehicle taking advantage of darkness fled away from the spot. However on checking seven bovines were found loaded inside the said vehicle. The vehicle and the bovines were seized and a case vide FIR No. 93/2016 under section 188/RPC, 2/3 PCA, 183/184/179 MV Act was registered in Police Station Ghagwal.
