ARNAS: Police on Thursday foiled two bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 18 bovines and arresting seven smugglers in Arnas and Sunderbani.
According to a report, on a specific information, a police team headed by Incharge Police Post Raskeen laid a Naka at Raskeen and rescued 12 bovines from the possession of Abdul Karim son of Mohd Yousaf, Akhter Hussain son of Billu, Mohd Shafi son of Hassan Mohd and Mumtaz Ahmed son of Mir Hussain, all residents of Narla Bambal Tehsil Khawas district Rajouri.
The accused persons were carrying these bovines without any legal documents. They intended to smuggle these animals towards Kashmir via Chiligali. All the accused persons were arrested and a case vide FIR No.23/2017 under section 188 RPC, 3PCA Act was registered at Police Station Arnas.
In another case, on a specific information, SHO Police Station Sunderbani laid a Naka/checking at Sunderbani. During Naka checking, police seized three Tata mobiles (JK12-9963, JK01AA-1367 and JK02AB- 3810) and rescued six bovines loaded in it. Police arrested the three bovine smugglers which were identified as Nasir Ahmed son of Mohd Hanif resident of Hari Poonch, Mohd Zahid son of Mohd Rafiq resident of Kalaban Poonch and Gurpal Singh son of Mukhtyar Singh resident of Katyal Pura. A case vide FIR Nos. 37/2017, 38/2017 and 39/2017 under sections 188 RPC 3PC Act and 177/184, 66/192-A MV Act were registered at Police Station Sunderbani.
