17 gamblers arrested

KATHUA: Bani Police on Wednesday arrested six gamblers and recovered Rs 35,030 from them. Acting on specific information, police party of Police Station Bani on the orders of SSP Kathua conducted a raid in the house of one Zulfkar Ali, son of Bashir Ahmad, resident of Bani and arrested six gamblers.
They were identifies as Bashir Ahmad, son of Ramzan, resident of Bani, Mohd Hanief, son of Akbar, resident of Bhoond, Zulfkar Ali, son of Bashir Ahmad, resident of Bani, Zahoor Ahmad, son of Ramzan, resident of Chandyar, Showkat Ali, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Dhaman and Gulbahar, son of Bashir, resident of Chandyar.
Police recovered cash amounting to Rs. 12,340 as stake money and Rs 22,690 on personal search of the gamblers besides playing card.
Police took the cognisance under the provisions of Gambling Act.
Meanwhile, on a specific information SHO Police Station Bishnah conducted a raid near Matadoor Stand, Miran Sahib Road Bishnah and arrested seven gamblers indentified as Rakesh Kumar son of Pawan Kumar, Sonu Kumar alias Sahil son of Sukhdev, Vijay Kumar son of Charan Dass, Rahul Sharma son of Subash Chander, Ajay Kumar son of Joginder Singh, Rafi alias Gujjar son of Anayat and Sunil Kumar son of Ashok Kumar all residents of Bishnah. All these accused were arrested under section 13 Gambling Act and cash amounting to Rs. 13,420 as stake money and playing cards were also recovered from their possession. They were produced in the Court of Law.
Meanwhile, on a specific information SHO Police Station R. S. Pura conducted a raid at Purana Pind, RS Pura and arrested four gamblers identified as Joginder Kumar son of Rattan Lal, Jagir son of Amar Nath, Paramjeet son of Prithpaul Singh and Suresh Kumar sonof Kasturi Lal, all residents of W.No.13 R S Pura. They were arrested under section 13 Gambling Act and Rs 19,500 as stake money and playing cards were recovered from their possession.
