16,817 new accounts opened under social security schemes

REASI: District Development Commissioner Reasi Ravinder Kumar on Tuesday chaired the District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting to review progress of the banks under various schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC stressed for concerted efforts of banks and government departments in organising financial literacy and awareness camps in rural areas. He also emphasized on achieving targets in issuance of Kissan Credit Cards to bring maximum farmers under this scheme.
DDC directed the banks to take effective measures for ensuring loans in agriculture sector so that majority of the population is benefitted under various schemes.
Lead Bank Manager gave a detailed account of the performance of banks under agriculture advances, priority and other sectors. It was informed that up to December 2016, Rs 1846.73 crore have been recorded in deposits while Rs 513 crore under the advance sector registering a CD ratio of 27.77 per cent.
The Chair was further apprised that 16817 accounts have been opened in different bank branches of the district to cover beneficiaries of various social security schemes (SSS). Under APY, 826 accounts while as 7207, 11450 and 355 accounts of PMJJBY, PMSBY and PMMY beneficiaries have been opened respectively.
Director RESTI informed the chair that 95 candidates have been trained in various trades and courses till quarter ending December 2016.
Among others Lead District Manager, Director RSETI Reasi, district officers and Cluster Heads of banks attended the meeting.
