15,253 income generating units set up in Baramulla

BARAMULLA: To set up 15,253 Income Generating Units, Rs. 313.87 crores have been advanced to the educated unemployed youth by various financial institutions in Baramulla District during the first two quarters of current financial year.
This was stated during a meeting of District Level Review Committee (DLRC) convened to review the targets and achievements made under the annual credit plan during the first two quarters in the district.
The meeting was chaired by the District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr. Farooq Lone and it was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Lead District Magistrate, officers from Line Departments, representatives of RBI, NABARD and other banks.
While giving the details LDM said that Rs.120.27 cr were provided for agriculture sector, Rs.102.76 cr under non-priority sector, Rs. 83.43 cr under small enterprises while as Rs. 7.41 cr advanced under service sector, thus achieving 21 per cent of the target fixed for the financial year 2014-15 under the Credit Plan in the district.
The District Development Commissioner on the occasion advised all the sponsoring agencies and Bank authorities to work with cooperation, coordination and cohesion to achieve the goals and targets of development and progress besides generation of employment for the unemployed youth of the district. He also directed all line Departments and Banks to conduct awareness programmes village/block-level to generate proper awareness among the people.
