Constitute monitoring cell to review progress of tourism projects: AJHLA

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association (AJHLA) has expressed disappointment over the contents of meeting chaired by the Commissioner Secretary Tourism lacking mention of any of the ongoing Jammu District tourism projects pending completion since years.
In the statement issued here on Wednesday, President AJHLA, Inderjeet Khajuria expressed surprise that the Jammu District Mega Tourism Projects like Artificial Lake Project on Tawi River, Jammu Cable Car Project, Development of Manda Deer Park, Modernisation of General Bus Stand, Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex and development of Suchetgarh Border etc are having no control of or concern with the Tourism Department. In fact these projects are being executed independently by different government departments which have no link or liason with the Tourism Department, he said.
AJHLA in fact has already suggested to the government for the constitution of monitoring cell under the control of Divisional Commissioner Jammu with Chief Engineers/HoDs as members to create liason among the executing sister departments for watching the progress and to address problems besides convening regular monthly meetings where the presence of stakeholders should be made mandatory but unfortunately the suggestion has not been considered.
The association further requested for constitution of the monitoring cell under the Divisional Commissioner Jammu with regular monthly meetings to review progress and to address problems in presence of the representatives of the stakeholders who should be invited.
The association has already expressed its annoyance over the discriminatory attitude of the previous governments for their non seriousness and maintaining criminal silence over the completion of the stalled Jammu District tourism projects pending completion since years with no funds or any sort of activity even during the financial year 2015-16.
