Tribute to Martyrs

Dear Editor,
As per Aleister Crowley an English oculist, ceremonial magician, poet, painter, novelist, the people who have really made history are the martyrs. As per Napoleon Bonaparte, it is the cause, not the death that makes the martyr. It is difficult, and it calls for higher energies of soul, to live a martyr than to die one.
The indications from Deputy Commissioner for creation of a ‘Mountain Park’ on Udhampur-Srinagar by pass road near Garnai and to dedicate this park to the sacrifice of Captain Tushar, by naming it on his name is a tribute to the brave soldier in real perspective, on behalf of the district administration Udhampur. The civil society thanks the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary for the vision. Captain Tushar was a blooming bud and by his daring deed has made every Udhampurian feel proud of his son of soil. Another unique tribute was paid to the proud son by citizens of Udhampur by organising a blood donation camp at Civil Hospital Udhampur. The continuous prayers and tributes to the departed soul in Udhampur by almost all educational institutions, by social organisations and many more, itself speaks of the respect and love in the mind and heart of every soul of Udhampur towards the martyrs. This gesture of the Udhampurians have given a message to the Northern Command Headquarter at Udhampur that it carries a special respect and love for the army.
The soil of Udhampur District has produced number of proud brave soldiers who have brought name to the Udhampur in the field of Army, Police and other Para Military Forces. The sacrifice of many remains in oblivion but the present Civil and Police District Administration is now on fast track to give a justified recognition to the brave sons of the soil. The development of ‘Shrdhanjli Sthal’ near Police Station is a place to pay homage to martyrs. The organising of ‘Police Martyr Memorial Volley Ball Tournament’ is a way to pay homage to Police Martyrs. The district administration is all set to name conspicuous Chowks of Udhampur in memory of late Subedar Krishan Singh Jamwal of village Urliaan and late Major Narain Singh Bhutyal of Krimchi Mansar, whose families are now settled in the Udhampur town. Both these brave soldiers are awardees of Second Highest Gallantry War Time Award ‘Vir Chakra’ in the year 1948 and 1971 respectively. The raising of their statues at appropriate sites is also under consideration of the Deputy Commissioner.
As a person from belt force I feel that due attention towards the remembrance of these two Vir Chakra awardees required and expected from the Northern Command is missing some where, as such awardees are proud for the army and they become the property of the nation as for the cause of the nation they sacrifice their lives.
The people pay tribute to the martyrs and forget the unsung heroes the very next day. It is also a way to pay floral tributes to all the martyrs to plant a tree in the name of the martyrs, erect a platform around the saplings and put some information about the martyrs. This will carry an instinct in the mind of generations and will be a daily tribute to the martyrs while nurturing the sapling and respect for martyrs will grow everyday with the growth of the sapling.
The tyrant dies and his rule is over, the martyr dies and his rule begins.
