Revenue Deptt launches anti-encroachment drive

JAMMU: Officials of Revenue Department on Wednesday visited Bajalta area in the outskirts of Jammu city and stopped the ongoing works on Khad land.
Tehsildar Jammu, Abid Hussain, said that the residents of the area complained against the ongoing encroachment of State government land in a big way. He maintained that during the visit we found that about three to four construction works were in progress on Khad land.
The team stopped the ongoing works, he said, adding that the area in question is more than 2,000 Kanals and the demarcation of the said land will be completed in the next couple of days.
Later, the team also visited Tootan Di Khui in Khanna Chargal area wherein they found that some construction activity was going on. After going through the documents, the Revenue Department team found that construction is being accomplished by those having proper ownership rights (Milkiyat). The aforesaid drive was conducted on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Jammu wherein Tehsildar Jammu, Naib Tehsildar besides various officials of Revenue Department were also present. The drive was assisted by Police Post Bajalta.
