1,500 Anganwadi Centres to be converted into crèches

JAMMU: The government is in process to make integrated Child Development Centre more vibrant for providing quality basic education to the children of the State. In this regard, the Integrated Child Development Department is finalising syllabi under the scheme Early Childhood Care and Education Services (ECCES).
This was revealed in a review meeting of ICDS Department held under the Chairmanship of Secretary Social Welfare, Mohammad Shafi Rather here on Sunday.
The meeting threadbare reviewed physical and financial achievements registered by the department so for during current fiscal.
Mission Director, ICDS, Dr. G.N Itoo, Programme Officer of all districts, besides other senior officers of the department attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that 1,500 Anganwadi Centres would be converted into crèches with all facilities for child care and their development. It was also disclosed in the meeting that ICDS department is going to upgrade infrastructure facilities in existing Anganwadi Centres for providing more child care facilities in a phased manner.
The Secretary while receiving appraisal of the functioning of ICDS centres from each programme officer, exhorted upon them to work with more dedication and devotion for enhancing the benefits of ICDS schemes to each child in the state.
The Director, ICDS on the occasion gave detailed resume of activities registered in the department for welfare of the children. He directed the officers to ensure proper distribution of nutrition supply to all ICDS Centers and called for coordination efforts to improve the functioning of the department so that the objective of various flagship programs is achieved.
