JAMMU: The three-day event of JKMUN-2024, held at JK Public School, Kunjwani culminated with great enthusiasm, with more than 200 delegates from top notched CBSE schools from Jammu and Udhampur.
The delegates gathered, as representatives of different countries, discussed various problems of the world and their solutions. The closing ceremony of this great event took place on Sunday with great enthusiasm.
The sessions’ simulation of UNHRC, UNCSW, AIPPM, Lok Sabha and International Press saw some heated and spirited debates on matters of international and national consequences. The whole event was filled with fun and frolic, as it reached the culmination point with a much-awaited “award ceremony”.
Day 3 of the 14th Edition of JK MUN-2024 summed up with the debates and agenda set forth by all the committees with high commendations. The ceremony concluded with the prize distribution. The award ceremony was a tribute to the fierce debaters, knowledgeable orators and well-read global citizens who are the future leaders.
Chief Guest during the valedictory function of JKMUN 2024 was Prof Ashok Aima, former Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Chairman JK Educational Society Raj Daluja, Director JK Educational Society Shashi Chaudhary; Principal JK Public School Kunjwani Rajesh Rathore; Vice Principal Roopinder Kour; School Coordinator Inderjeet Kour, Academic Coordinator Parvinder Kaur, Coordinator of Primary wing Anju Raj and Coordinator Toddlers World Shivangani Pandotra.
Principal JK Public School, Kunjwani Rajesh Rathore welcomed the guests and shared his insights on the Model United Nations, its functions and role in maintaining World peace. He highlighted the importance of MUN as a school activity which not only promotes communicative skills but also plays an important role in holistic development of students. He emphasized the role MUN plays in altering the lives of youth by contributing to their educational and social development as young leaders.
The Chief Guest Prof Ashok Aima enthralled the audience with his words of wisdom. He invoked students to be the change agents and deliberate seriously upon their specific role in empowering the nation and transforming India into world’s third largest economy.
He appealed youngsters to stay focussed, dedicated, committed and perseverant while chasing their dreams. Only focus and diligence can convert opportunities into milestones.
He appreciated the Chairman of JK Educational Society Raj Daluja for laying the foundation stone of the futuristic institution JK Public School Kunjwani with lofty ideals more than three decades ago and provided the creative platform of JKMUN to all the schools way back in the year 2004.
The EB members announced the much awaited results of their respective Committees. The outstanding delegates were felicitated. The students adjudged as Best delegates were: UNHRC- Abhijay Charak (Palestine), AIPPM – Bhavesh Gupta (Asaduddin Owaisi), Lok Sabha – Sarvagya (Narendra Modi), UNCSW – Vivek.
Jasmine Chibber and Manya Kesar were declared Best photographer and Best journalist respectively.
The Best delegation trophy was bagged by Municipality.
Finally, the ceremony concluded with the closing address from the members of the secretariat team.
