JAMMU: Ever since former Union Minister and National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah has staged a comeback here in the state after enjoying a long holiday with his family, he is making more news than the real stake holders BJP and PDP who are awaiting with bated breath each other’s response over the issue of government formation.
Dr Abdullah first grabbed the headlines by claiming NC has kept its doors open and was ready to discuss the offer of government formation, if it is approached, in the central working committee of the party.
Though Dr Abdullah was forced to retract from his statement by his son and working President Omar Abdullah who took to twitter to clarify National Conference was not power hungry and not going to do any ideological compromises for the sake of power.
Despite this, flamboyant Dr Abdullah managed to set the cat among the pigeons.
On Wednesday Dr Abdullah once again raked up the issue of delay, a day after Omar dispatched an open letter to PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti urging her to take a final decision over the issue of government formation in the state.
Omar, however, committed a blunder by suggesting that Mehbooba Mufti should recommend dissolution of the state assembly if she was not keen on government formation in the state.
Dr Abdullah’s statement “If they cannot make the Government, then they should make it clear so that we can take the next stand, whatever it is,” has assumed greater significance and cannot be brushed aside or passed off as mere rumour mongering.
Dr Abdullah’s active involvement in the affairs of the state and his friendship with senior political leaders has kept everyone on tenterhooks. It remains to be seen whether Dr Abdullah is seriously playing some politics or he is genuinely aiming to play last innings.
