After 14 days, NHM employees call off strike

JAMMU: National Health Mission (NHM) employees of J and K, who are on strike since 1st March, on Tuesday called off their strike, after State Health Minister assured them to fulfill their demands and decided to set up a committee to examine for the same.
NHM employees were protesting for the last 14 days demanding regularization of services, equal pay for equal work and other benefits at par with other government employees, claiming that most of them have completed about a decade of contractual service and have crossed the age bar limit.
Spokesperson of the Association, Faizan A Tramboo said that after a delegation of NHM employees met Health Minister Bali Bhagat and MoS Health Asiya Naqash at Civil Secretariat Jammu regarding the issues, the Health Minister directed Commissioner Secretary Health Dr M.K Bhandari to constitute a committee of senior officers including Additional Secretary Health K.S Chib, Secretary Technical and Medical Education Dr Kabir Dar, Director Health Services Jammu, Director Health Services Kashmir and Mission Director NHM Dr Mohan Singh who will examine all the issues of NHM employees and make its recommendations.
President Rohit Seth, Vice President Dr Hamid Parray and other core committee members of the JammuDivision Association have extended their gratitude to Health Minister and Asiya Naqash for hearing them and assured to call off the strike from today and resuming the routine work from tomorrow onwards.
