Kishtwar youths allege backdoor appointments, demand CBI probe

KISHTWAR: Youths of District Kishtwar on Sunday held a meeting under the banner of Chinar Power Projects Workers Union which was chaired by Joginder Bhandari.
While speaking in the meeting, the participants strongly criticised the management of Chenab Valley Power Projects (CVPP) for making large scale back door appointments from outside the State at the cost of deserving unemployed youths of District Kishtwar .
They said the CVPP has appointed engineers and trainee officers in accounts through back door setting aside the employment claim of deserving unemployed diploma and degree holders of the district which has caused a resentment among the deserving unemployed youths .
Joginder Bhandari Chairman Chinar Power Projects Workers Union while speaking on the occasion said that more than 250 employees are posted in CVPP who are drawing their salaries monthly without any work and are enjoying their luxurious life in the CVPP corporate office Jammu .He said the CVPP is drawing approx rupees two crores monthly on account of salaries of their employees but no work on ground level has been taken up.
Bhandari informed that three hydroelectric Projects Viz Pakal Dul, Keroo and Kawar are under the joint venture of CVPP consisting of NHPC ,JKSPDC and PTC and all the three projects are situated in District Kishtwar and the Office of Chairman and Managing Director is established at Jammu where the CVPP is unnecessary paying rent of the accommodation to the tune of rupees in lakhs . in addition of this TA worth lakhs of rupees is being drawn which is huge loss to the State exchequer and so far Rs.1,200 cr has been drawn on account of salaries ,TA , medical and other allowances by the CVPP and the government is mum in this regard .
Bhandari urged upon the government to release payment of compensation of lands acquired for Pakal Dul , Keroo and Kawar at the prevailing market rates and one member of each family should be given employment in CVPP on permanent basis whose land has been acquired for these projects as envisaged under Reconstruction and Rehabilitation plan of 2007.
He stressed upon the management of CVPP to hand over the Rattle H.E Project to the successful bidder so that the deserving unemployed youths could get employment opportunity .
