Two girls arrested for extortion, impersonation as advocates

JAMMU: Police on Thursday arrested two girls, a local and other resident of Jharkhand for extorting money from a 50-year-old man by threatening him to frame in a fake case of sexual advances. On specific information, the police laid a trap and arrested the duo for cheating a man by impersonating as advocates.
According to the case, the man identified as Israr Mohammed told the police that the duo met him in a matador. One of the girl, having boyish looks, sat along with him on the same seat while the other took exactly the back seat. After some distance, both started blaming him of sexual advances. Both the girls took away his mobile, wallet and cash threatening him of a police complaint.
“Few days later, they called him and demanded Rs 20,000 which Israr paid. Thereafter, they again called him and took Rs 30,000 from him. Today again both the girls called him and demanded Rs 50,000,” police said.
This time, Israr narrated the entire matter to the police.
SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Bishnesh Kumar laid a trap and arrested both the girls red handed and recovered Israr’s wallet and other documents besides cash.
Involvement of these girls in other cases cannot be ruled out, police said, adding names of both the girls have been withheld as this may hamper further investigations. FIR 2/16 under Sections 419, 420, 419, 386 and 500 RPC has been registered.
