Three drug peddlers held in Kashmir

Srinagar:- Three “notorious” drug peddlers were arrested in Baramulla district of north Kashmir and booked under Narcotic Drug Psychotropic Substance Act (NDPSA), police said today.

Ghulam Nabi Bhat alias “Setha Kala” of Mohalla Khawaja Sahib and Naveed Manzoor Najar alias “Babloo Nakwoor” of Iqbal Colony were arrested from Baramulla town and booked under stringent NDPSA, a police spokesman said.

He said both the arrested persons were “notorious” drug peddlers and have been sent to Kathua jail in Jammu region.

In a stern warning, the spokesman said, “action will be taken against all those people who have come into the notice of police for such anti-social activities.”

In November last year, police also booked two drug peddlers under Public Safety Act (PSA) in Baramulla district and sent them to separate jails outside the valley.

In a separate operation, the spokesman said another drug peddler was arrested along with codeine phosphate in Sopore township of Baramulla district.

Mehraj-ud-din Mir alias “Juja” of Adipora was arrested on a specific information near his house and 27 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from him, he said, adding a case under NDPS was registered against him.
