RAMBAN: Continuing its drive to curb the menace of bovine smuggling by District Police Ramban, a such an attempt was foiled at Jawahar Tunnel on Saturday.
According to a report, acting on specific information, a police party of Police Post Jawahar Tunnel intercepted a truck (JK02AD- 1279), on way towards Valley from Jammu. During checking of truck, 13 bovines were found loaded in the truck being smuggled in a cruel manner. Accordingly, a case has been registered at Police Station Banihal under section 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act and driver of the truck namely Mohd Tahir son of Mohd Ayoub Mir resident of Hanjana Thakra Tehsil Nowshera District Rajouri along with his accomplice Mohd. Boshu son of Alif Din Gujjar resident of Khanikot Tehsil Arnas District Reasi were arrested. The arrests were made by police team headed by SI Mohd Irfan Wani, In-Charge Police Post Jawahar Tunnel in close coordination with SHO Banihal Inspr. Nazir Ahmed Dar under the supervision of Mohd Rafiq, SDPO Banihal and Randeep Kumar, Sr. Superintendent of Police, Ramban.
