125 J&K Police officers, personnel awarded; highest in State & UT Police forces

JAMMU: The Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday announced 125 President’s medals for Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel for gallantry, distinguished and meritorious services.
As per the list released by MHA, Jammu and Kashmir Police have been honoured with two President’s Police Medal for Distinguished service, 15 Police Medal for meritorious service, 108 Police Medals for Gallantry. This is highest among State and UT Police forces.
ADGP Rajesh Kumar 1995 IPS officer of AGMUT cadre presently on deputation to CRPF, SSP Mohan Lal Kaith and DySP Janardhan Singh have been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, while police medal for meritorious service has been awarded to 15 Officers and officials.
Addl DGP Rajesh Kumar, an IPS officer of J&K cadre has also served as IG CRPF (Operations) Kashmir. Kumar is an IPS officer of 1995 batch and has held various postings in Jammu and Kashmir including IGP Jammu. Presently Rajesh Kumar is head of Northern sector of CRPF.
Mohan Lal Kaith, SSP Traffic Rural Jammu, was appointed as Sub Inspector in Jammu and Kashmir Police and worked in different capacities in Jammu District, as I/C PP Sarwal, Palanwalla, Addl. SHO Samba, I/C PP Talab Tillo and Sarwal respectively. The officer had also worked in the Kashmir Valley and after promotion to the rank of DySP, he remained posted as SDPO Bakshi Nagar, DySP Hqrs. Jammu, SDPO South Jammu, SDPO Border Chadwal Jammu. After promotion to the rank of SP, the officer remained posted as Addl. SP Rural Jammu. Among the recipients of Police Medal for Meritorious Service are SSP Kulbir Singh, SSP Showkat Ahmad Dar, SSP Shiekh Zulfikar Azad, SSP Jatinder Singh Johar, SSP Randheer Singh, SP Gurmeet Singh, DySP Abdul Hamid Dar, DySP Ghulam Jeelani Bhat, DySP Abid Hussain Rafiqi, Inspector Dharminder Chand, SI Amit Raina, ASI Abdul Hamid Famda, ASI Super Dil, HC Farooq Ahmad Bhat and HC Kanwal Kishore.

DGP J&K Dilbag Singh has congratulated the awardees and their families. He has said the J&K Police officers and personnel have been conferred with the high number of gallantry medals once again which exhibits the exemplary courage, dedication and commitment shown by the police in ensuring peace and order in Jammu and Kashmir. He thanked Union Minister of Home affairs Amit Shah for acknowledging the resolve and commitment of JK Police Officers and Jawans.
The DGP thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Lt Governor J&K Manoj Sinha and Union Home Secy. Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta, Financial Commissioner (ACS) Home for recognizing the dedication of J&K Police on this auspicious occasion.
Jammu and Kashmir UT administration has announced Jammu & Kashmir Police Medal for Gallantry and Meritorious Service. 156 Police personnel have been conferred with the Gallantry Medals and five officers have been awarded Meritorious Service Medals.
Jammu and Kashmir Police Medal for Meritorious Service have been conferred upon SSPs Zubair Ahmad Khan, Ramesh Kumar Angral, Mumtaz Ahmed, Inspector Showkat Ahmad Zargar and ASI Sunil Jalla.
DySP AHJ Jammu Sheikh Tahir Amin conferred with 3rd JK Police Medal For Gallantry on the occasion of Independence day 2022. He has already been conferred with Two Police Medal for Gallantry ,DGP JK Medal and DGP CRPF Medal while serving in Different Capacities in Kashmir valley.
Meanwhile, Sheema Nabi Qasba, IPS (RR:2016) of Jammu and Kashmr Police got COAS commendation medal on the occasion of Independence Day-2022. Sheema Nabi Qasba is presently posted as SP Handwara.
