RAMBAN: In a major drive Ramban police busted an inter-state drug racket operation by seizing 1200 bottles of Codeine from a truck which was on its way to Srinagar from Delhi.
According to police, on a specific information during the intervening night of Dec 1-2, 2017, police along with Executive Magistrate laid various Nakas on the National Highway NH1A between Nashri and Ramban led by DySPHqrs Ramban Imtiaz Ahmed, SHO Batote Insp. Vijay Choudhary and IC PP Patnitop Sandeep Charak. Accordingly police intercepted a truck (JK03C 9651) at Nashri and on its checking, 12 sealed bags comprising of 1200 bottles of Codeine were found.
Police seized the drugs, arrested the driver namely Yaseen Ahmed Mir resident of Lethpora Pulwama and also seized the vehicle. A case vide FIR No.83/2017 with the relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered at Police station Batote. The drive was supervised by Adl SP Ramban Mushtaq Choudhary with overall guidance of SSP Ramban Mohal Lal.
