UDHAMPUR: Due to heavy downpour at-least twelve persons including six minor children died in different house collapse incident on Saturday here in Tehsil Udhampur. Besides over dozen people got injured in house collapses and property including light vehicles, motorcycles and household items worth lakh of rupees has been damaged. Rain water entered into Indra Nagar, Ward No 2 locality in many houses due to collapse of boundary wall of CPWD rest house here.
At many places local administration launched rescue operation and also provided tented accommodation to the victims besides hindereds of people were shifted to safer place.
In a house collapse at village Talpard, six members of a family got buried under debris and died. Dead were identified as Gulzar, Sheeda, Mohd Riaz all sons and daughter of Gulam Hussain, Nazarna son of Sheeda. While at village Bapli two persons died and were identified as Tripta daughter of Shami and Naroma daughter of Shami while at Badali Rakh two children died under debris of the house whereas their mother got critically injured. Dead were identified as five years Ravi Kumar and three years Pankaj both sons of Sanjau Kumar. Yet in a house collapse at Manthal two died and were identified as five years Manjeet and eight years Ranjeev both sons of Suneet Kumar.
Local administration has shifted the people who were at risk at village Sateni to safer place and provided tented shelters. In Tehsil Udhampur 64 houses fully damaged, 23 partially and 44 cattle sheds damaged and many cattle heads are reported to have died in Kula collapses. Reports said that adjoining rivulets to Ghordi, Bharmeen, Ramnagar, Chenani Sudhmahadev-Latti, Damnote are in spate and many sub road links and culverts were damaged and cutting off these villages from the rest of the part of the State. At many places communication net work, electricity and water supply has been badly affected.
