1,150 Kg Lahan, 40 bottles of liquor destroyed

KATHUA: Continuing with its drive to arrest the menace of illicit distillation, Excise Department on Friday conducted raids at several villages in Kathua and Jammu Districts and in the process recovered 1,150 Kg Lahan and 40 bottles of liquor, which were destroyed on the spot.
According to reports, a team of Excise Department from Kathua under the command of ETO, Sandeep Gupta raided Charala, Saktachak, Banyari, Barnoti and Sitdyal areas of Kathua district and recovered more than 850 KG of Lahan and 40 bottles of illicit liquor made from Lahan which was destroyed by the team on the spot. Meanwhile, another team under the command of ETO, Eradication Jammu, Suresh Sharma raided Kotli, Charkan, Salehar, Kothey, Bulande, Shibuchak, Shiekhpur, Kriel and Lalyane areas of R.S Pura and Bishnah falling under Jammu District and in the process recovered and destroyed 300 kg of Lahan.
The drive was conducted under the active supervision of Excise Commissioner, J and K T. Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Mohammed Shahid Saleem.
