JAMMU: The 10th meeting of the Governing Body of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, was held here and discussed the arrangements, interalia, for admission of second batch of the students in this College for the session 2017-18.
Maj. Gen. (Retd) Shiv Kumar Sharma, Member of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Body of the College, chaired the meeting.
The meeting was attended by the Members of the Governing Body of the Nursing College: A. K. Sahu, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board; Dr. V. Verma, Dean, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU); Subrata Deb, Librarian, SMVDU and Dr. (Brig.) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer, SMVDNSH, Kakryal and Dr. Shailla Cannie, Principal of the Nursing College, who are Convenor and Co-Convenor of the Governing Body, respectively. The Governing Body discussed the report of minor and major examinations of the students along with the monthly reports as well as co-curricular activities undertaken during the past months since commencement of the classes for the first batch of the college in July 2016 and expressed satisfaction.
The meeting emphasised the need for engaging the students more in the project works and also for an increased number of motivational lectures and other such activities being arranged to groom the students in tune with the emerging requirements in the field of nursing.
In this context, Shiv Sharma underscored the crucial need for improving the college functioning on continuing basis so as to develop it as a front rank institution in the discipline of nursing. Referring to the construction of autonomous complex of the Nursing College and its hostel building, A.K Sahu informed that the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, has started the work of preparing Master Plan of the entire Hospital campus and the Nursing College.
As far as the construction of Nurses Hostel Nivedita-II is concerned, the work on this building is going on speedily and the building will be ready well before the admission of the 2nd Batch of students to the College. Other matters that came up for discussion in the Governing Body meeting included commencement of classes for 2nd Semester in January 2017, admission of the students for the 2017-18 Session, to-date status of implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Modules of the Nursing College.
