POONCH : In the wake of increasing number of road accidents mostly attributable to the negligence on the part of vehicle operators, the Poonch Police has launched a campaign against violation of traffic rules.
The SHO Poonch Jatinder Raina under the direct supervision of SSP Poonch J. S Johar laid number of police nakas and challaned 60 vehicles besides seizing four motorcycles on Thursday. These vehicles were challaned for using pressure horn, tape recorders, using mobiles while driving and driving without valid documents. The new motorcycles were seized for not having number plates.
The SHO issued instructions to the operators to strictly observe the traffic norms. He said that such nakas would continue in future also and in the case of repeated violations, suitable action would be taken against the defaulters.
Meanwhile, Mobile Magistrate Poonch Manzoor Ahmed Khan held traffic nakas at Sher-e-Kashmir Bridge and Kalai Bridge and challaned 49 vehicles for violating the traffic norms.
The Mobile Magistrate taking strong notice of using mobile phones while driving, non-availability of number plates and other violations. The Magistrate realized a fine of Rs 11,000 from the defaulters.
