SAMBA: Police on Saturday foiled a bovine smuggling by rescuing 10 bovines from the clutches of a smuggler.
As per the details, during the night intervening, a surprise Naka was laid by Police Party of Police Station Ghagwal headed by SI Rajeshwar Singh under the supervision of Varinder Singh Dy.SP Hqrs. Samba near Tapyal on NHW-1A. During checking, a truck bearing registration No. JK02AF-9867 which was coming from Kathua side was signaled to stop but driver accelerated his truck, ran away towards Samba. The police party acting swiftly chased the said truck and intercepted the same near Jatwal on NHW. The driver of vehicle taking advantage of darkness fled away from the spot. However on checking, 10 bovines were found loaded inside the truck. The truck was seized and a case vide FIR No. 100/2016 under section 188/RPC, 2/3 PC Act, 184/183/179 MV Act was registered in Police Station Ghagwal.
