Jammu: Despite adopting fast track recruitment policy the total number of unemployed youth registered with the employment exchanges in Jammu and Kashmir continues to hover over 1 lakh. Out of these, 58,796 unemployed have been registered in the Kashmir Valley with the Employment Department and 45,781 in Jammu province as on December 20, 2016.
The unemployed youth include 227 doctors, 1,662 engineers, 4,428 diploma holders, 7,809 post graduates, 19,947 graduates and 70,504 others figure on the list.
These figures were furnished by the Minister Incharge Labour and Employment Separtment in response to a question of BJP MLA from Jammu west Assembly Sat Paul Sharma.
In Jammu the highest number of 11,807 youth are registered with the Employment Department while 9443 are from Kathua and 5,311 from Samba. The frontier districts of Rajouri and Poonch have 4,360 and 2,526 unemployed youth while the hilly districts of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban have1,766, 1,590 and 1,977 youth registered with the Department respectively.
Similarly, the highest number of 13,039 unemployed youth in Kashmir belong to Kulgam, followed by 5,375 youth from Anantnag, 5,366 from Srinagar and 5,173 from Pulwama. In comparison to year 2016, total number of unemployed youth registered with the in December 2014 were 1,58,386. In 2014, 1,315 doctors were unemployed,1,161 engineers, 3,852 diploma holders, 8,064 post graduates and 29,012 graduates.
