Amit chairs mGov session at Knowledge Exchange Goa Summit

Amit ffffffPANJIM: Special Secretary to Government, Animal/Sheep and Fisheries Department led a prestigious session on Mobile Governance (mGov) as a part of Knowledge Exchange Goa Summit held at Panjim couple of days ago. This historical 3-day IT event was organised by Government of Goa in collaboration with Elects Group of Publications in which policy makers, corporate haunches, IT wizards, bankers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders including Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu, Goa Governor Mridula Sinha and Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar were present.

This highly informative and interactive session on ‘An Era of mGovernance’ was moderated by Special Secretary Amit Sharma relating to vital role of mGov as a corollary of ongoing eGovernance reforms all across the nation. Different speakers including Senior Advisor Niti Aayog B.N Sathpathy, DM North Goa Nila Mohanan, Director, eGov Department Karnataka Government Krishna Bajpai, Director Tourism Goa Ameya Abhyankar and CEO JKeGA Mohd Akbar Wani shared their perspectives on mGov in this session while sharing their experiences in shaping-up eGovernance movement in their respective areas of activities other than relevant mGov issues sharing by session chair Amit Sharma throughout the session.

While moderating the session, Amit specifically mentioned about various successful mGov models already in place all across the world and he stressed upon the need for shifting the platform of various online services towards mGovernance models. With the maximum spread of mobile networks and the expansion of its usage base upto the last mile, it was emphasised that mGov has become inevitable and it was concluded by the chair that earlier all government functions add alternate models of mobile Governance for convenience of common man, the better it is. This session was followed by a thought-provoking Q and A session in which queries of various members of audience were addressed by the concerned key speakers.

At the conclusion, all the key speakers were presented mementos by session chair Amit Sharma for their valuable contributions in mGovernance session of Knowledge Exchange Goa Summit. Apart from this, Special Secretary Amit Sharma also requested Union Railways Minister for expediting the work on creation of rail link route between Jammu and Srinagar at the earliest alongwith requesting for organisation of similar Knowledge Exchange Summit in J and K at the earliest which got heartening responses from all the concerned quarters. In this Summit, J and K also won two awards in eGov initiatives relating to commendable work done in successful automation of treasury operations and ERA projects.
