AMC Gurgaon lifts Fifth Police Martyr NZ T-20 C’ship Trophy

KATHUA: AMC Gurgaon lifted the Fifth Police Martyr Memorial North Zone Inter Club T-20 Cricket Championship 2014-15, organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police under Civic Action Programme at District Sports Stadium, here on Monday.
In the final played today, AMC Gurgaon registered a comfortable six-wicket win against Sabi Cricket Club Hoshiarpur in a low scoring match.
Earlier, AMC Gurgaon won the toss and opted to ball first.
Batting first, Sabi Cricket Club Hoshiarpur scored 95 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. In reply, AMC Gurgaon chased the target in 16 overs by losing four wickets. Chanderpal Saini of AMC Gurgaon was declared as Man of the match for his all-round performance. He made 27 runs and picked three wickets. Manoj Kumar and Varun Khanna of AMC Gurgaon were declared as best Batsman and Bowler of the Championship.
Chanderpal, Manoj Kumar and Varun Khanna were awarded Rs 21000 and Trophy each.
Sunil Dalai of AMC Gurgaon was declared as Man of the Series who took 13 wickets during the championship and was handed over a Maruti Alto K-10 car sponsored by Satyam Cements and TMT Saria by Devinder Verma of the company.
Winner team was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 2.5 lakh and trophy sponsored by Chenab Textiles Mill Kathua and handed over by K.C Sharma of the firm while runner up team was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 1.75 lakh and Trophy sponsored by Industrial Unit Association Kathua.
The championship is organized annually in the memory of Police Martyrs who sacrificed their life for the integrity and sovereignty of the Nation.
The Chief Guest of the closing ceremony was Danesh Rana IGP, Jammu Zone accompanied by DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range Shakeel Ahmed Beig.
The match started with paying floral tributes to martyrs of J and K Police who sacrificed their lives for the mother land while performing their duties.
SP Kathua, Neeva Jain welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries.
Danesh Rana appreciated the Kathua Police and Shaheed Welfare Committee for their efforts in organizing T-20 Cricket Championship successfully. He encouraged the youths of the society to come forward and join hands with the police to eradicate drug and other social menace and strive for crime free society.
The IGP also interacted with the families of the martyrs, who were present on the occasion, and assured them all kind of support from the police organization.
A large number of prominent citizens, officers of police which include SSP Samba, Joginder Singh, Principal PTS Kathua, Sanjeev Khajuria, Dy. Commandant IRP 19 Bn., Addl. SP Kathua, Nasir Khan Dy.SP Hqrs Kathua, Ajay Kumar, Dy. SP DAR Kathua, Kuljeet Singh.
Shaheed Welfare Committee members Ravinder Singh Salathia, Dr Jatinder Singh, Rakesh Sumbria, Vijay Singh, Sudrashan Gupta (VNC Chairman), Devinder Verma, Dr Satvir Singh and Naresh Sharma were also present.
