All-party panel formed; Jammu based legislators asked to clear stand

JAMMU: The work in the High Court Jammu Wing as well as District Court Complex remained suspended for the second consecutive day on Tuesday as lawyers abstained from the work on the issue of shifting of AIIMS to Srinagar which was earlier announced for Jammu in Central Budget.
During the all parties meeting convened by J and K High Court Bar Association Jammu, it was decided that a co-ordination committee shall be constituted comprising various members of participating organisations and the Bar Association. “The committee shall hold its meeting again on Saturday”, the meeting decided.
Chaired by BAJ President Abhinav Sharma, the meeting was attended by its office bearers and the representatives of Indian National Congress, National Conference, BSP, JKNPP and other organisations such as Chamber of Commerce, J and K Petrol Pump Tankers Association, Transport Association, Federation of Retailers, Hotelier and Lodges Association, SOS, J and K People Forum, Dogra Sadar Sabha, Swarnkar Sang, Rajput Sabha, Ram Sena, Dalit Chetna Manch, All J and K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha. The Committee passed a unanimous resolution to take up the issue of AIIMS from a common platform of JKHCBA.
The meeting condemned the statement made by Chief Minster Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on setting up of AIIMS in Kashmir.
It was also unanimously resolved that all the elected representatives from Jammu region to the J&K Assembly and particularly the Ministers representing Jammu province should immediately take up the matter with the central government for establishment of AIIMS at Jammu. The meeting gave an ultimatum to the elected MLAs from Jammu representing the party which has formed the government in coalition and the ministers representing Jammu province to clear their stand regarding establishment of AIIMs at Jammu before Saturday failing which the people from Jammu province shall be forced to take extreme steps which may include asking the elected MLAs and Ministers from Jammu province to step down.
