Things have, no doubt, changed in the Valley and there are many definitions of the Kashmir problem (‘Sketches in the Kashmir sand’ by Harish Khare, October 21). There is a drastic need to understand the changing ground realities and rise above petty politics to address the crisis. The PDP-BJP alliance has its own relevance in solving the issue, but CM Mehbooba Mufti alone cannot do it. Prime Minister Modi, his able colleague Rajnath Singh, and Opposition leaders will have to pitch in equally. If Mr Modi is able to seize this opportunity and resolve the ongoing painful and very complex logjam, he will emerge as a statesman at the international level.
