JAMMU: Non Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum (NGPWF) staged protest against the government demanding removal of pay anomalies and enhancement of medical allowance.
Led by Ajit Singh, Chairman of the Forum, large number of retired policemen assembled in front of Press Club Jammu and raised slogans in support of their demands.
The agitating protesters were demanding removal of pay anomaly, enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 3,000 per month, implementation of 7th Pay Commission report, cashless health care policy for the retired policemen, 15 per cent quota for the wards of the policemen for job in the department, etc.
“The Finance Department sought clarification from the Director General of Police regarding the pay anomalies to retiring ASIs and HCs. The officer of the Director General of Police informed about the amount of Rs 5,93,25,000 vide office letter No Estt-G-21/2014/10-03-14-15, dated February 17, 2016 addressed to Principal Secretary Home Department J and K, Jammu” they mentioned demanding that the aforesaid amount may be released in favour of retired ASIs and HCs.
They also demanded the release of hardship allowance which was announced by the Chief Minister during Amarnath Yatra and further demanded that those employees who have completed 10 years and above service should be given promotion to next rank as applicable to other paramilitary forces.
