Deadlock continues, NHM employees extend strike by 144 hrs

JAMMU: Showing dissatisfaction over the meeting with Health Minister and higher authorities of Health Department, the NHM Employees Association Jammu Division on Saturday has further extended the ongoing protest sit-in for next 144 hours in Jammu and Kashmir.
A delegation of NHM employees met Health Minister Bali Bhagat and apprised him of their grievances, the delegation pressed the minister for written assurance in this regard which he refused to do so forcing NHM employees to go for further strike across the Jammu and Kashmir.
NHM employees throughout the state are protesting in support of their demands including regularization of their services. “We have decided to go continue with 144 hours long protest sit-in and pen down strike from today,” Spokesperson of NHM Employees Association, Faizan A Tramboo told reporters here.
Further the association said that the minister didn’t give them any assurance which could have satisfied the Core Group Committee of the Association as the meeting with Health Minister didn’t yield any results.
“We want written assurance this time otherwise this agitation will go long for which the government of J and K shall be responsible,” he added. Again on day 18th of the ongoing State wide strike, more than thousands of employees from RNTCP, State AIDS Control Society and other schemes of NHM continued their strike at Press Club Jammu and other parts of the state.
Tramboo informed the media that government is not paying any heed to their genuine demands thus by forcing them to take aggressive measures to raise their demands.
President NHM Jammu Division Rohit Seth, President RNTCP Dr S.S Sambyal, President NACO Nisar Ahmed Dar, Senior Vice President NHM, Dr Hamid Parray, General Secretary NHM, Dr Varinder Gupta and Vice President, Dr Arun Deol have urged upon the government to consider the genuine demands of NHM employees on priority basis, instead of giving them in human treatment otherwise the agitation will turn ugly faces in the coming days.
